{"id":738,"date":"2013-02-26T22:34:17","date_gmt":"2013-02-26T22:34:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.success-academy.org\/home\/?p=738"},"modified":"2013-02-26T22:34:17","modified_gmt":"2013-02-26T22:34:17","slug":"persistence-persistence-persistence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.success-academy.org\/home\/persistence-persistence-persistence\/","title":{"rendered":"Persistence, persistence, persistence!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019m coming to the end of writing my book, <strong>Stunted Growth,<\/strong> and it has taken longer and required far more persistence than I imagined.<\/p>\n<p>The idea came in a flash \u2013 <strong>100 reasons why your business isn\u2019t growing.<\/strong> An easy to read book to provoke\u00a0thought about how things can be improved and sustainable growth achieved.<\/p>\n<p>Then came the hard work, <strong>writing 400 to 600 words for each of the hundred reasons.<\/strong><br \/>\nNot being an experienced writer I had no idea how difficult it can be to write in a consistent engaging style\u00a0without getting too technical or waffling.<\/p>\n<p>I had planned to get it written in <strong>6 months, however the first draft took nearly a year.<\/strong><br \/>\nThen came the <strong>review<\/strong> and not one of the 100 reasons survived as first written, with some being cut\u00a0completely.<br \/>\n<strong>I got carried away and couldn\u2019t see the forest because of the trees.<\/strong><br \/>\nI needed to <strong>think more about my readers, or better still get in their shoes,<\/strong> think like a small business owner\u00a0with too much to do and not enough resources. <strong>Then I could serve them best!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.success-academy.org\/home\/persistence-persistence-persistence\/book-persistance\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-739\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-739\" alt=\"book-persistance\" src=\"http:\/\/www.success-academy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/book-persistance-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.success-academy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/book-persistance-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.success-academy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/book-persistance.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A lot of time also went into<strong> studying marketing strategies and different ways to launch the book.<\/strong> A very\u00a0tricky area, where many thousands (in any currency &#8211; dollars, euros or pounds) can be <strong>\u2018invested\u2019<\/strong> without\u00a0any guarantees of getting the money back.<\/p>\n<p>Now, after another year,<strong> the final phase of editing is in process.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The journey is in itself a lesson \u2013 for me and for others\u2026<br \/>\n<strong>You must meet your Clients where they are, provide value in a way they can see a clear path to success and\u00a0then support them in their own journey.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The biggest lesson is to be prepared to start again, to course correct as many times as needed, but never to\u00a0give up!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>If one person reads it and gets their business to grow, then my persistence will have paid off!<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019m coming to the end of writing my book, Stunted Growth, and it has taken longer and required far more persistence than I imagined.
