Thinking about the future of your business today is far different from 10 or 15 years ago.<\/p>\n

In those days, a good Business Plan supported by adequate funding had a fair chance of success and once\u00a0you had survived the first 3-5 years all you had to do was to keep improving your systems and look out for new\u00a0opportunities of expansion.<\/p>\n

If you were a successful CEO or top manager you could change jobs with little risk because by applying the same\u00a0solid management systems you had a fair chance of making the same impact.<\/p>\n

Today this paradigm has completely changed!
\nThinking about the future of your business is a difficult challenge because the only certainty<\/strong> you can have is that\u00a0the future is uncertain.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Even if you are doing well, there are no guarantees that the situation will not change overnight because there are\u00a0too many variables at play and the speed of change has been increasing exponentially.<\/p>\n

So what can you do?<\/strong><\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> Embrace the fact that there are too many things you can\u2019t control.<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> Acknowledge the fact that you can\u2019t keep on doing the same things and expecting a different result.<\/p>\n

3.<\/strong> Take a personal inventory:
\nWhere exactly you stand?
\nWhat are your core strengths?
\nWhat are your business strengths?
\nWhat challenges are you and your business facing?
\nWhere do you want do go?
\nWhat do you need in terms of competences, tools and financing to get there?<\/p>\n

4.<\/strong> Draw an action plan – include your staff and stakeholders in the process but remember that the\u00a0responsibility for the decision is YOURS and only yours.<\/p>\n

5.<\/strong> Divide the plan in steps and find metrics to help keeping you on track.<\/p>\n

6.<\/strong> Start today and make sure everyone understands their role and is commited to the vision and the end\u00a0result.<\/p>\n

7. Adjust and revise constantly!<\/strong><\/p>\n
