{"id":818,"date":"2013-04-25T19:03:05","date_gmt":"2013-04-25T19:03:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.success-academy.org\/home\/?p=818"},"modified":"2013-04-25T19:03:05","modified_gmt":"2013-04-25T19:03:05","slug":"team-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.success-academy.org\/home\/team-work\/","title":{"rendered":"Team Work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships\u2019\u00a0<strong>Michael Jordan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you look up for <strong>\u2018Team Work\u2019<\/strong> in a dictionary you will find a definition similar to this one:\u00a0\u2018Cooperative effort by the members of a group or team to achieve a common goal.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>It is known that<strong> a team can achieve results that go far beyond the sum of the results that each individual member\u00a0could achieve.\u00a0<\/strong>However, although this is common knowledge, it is not so much common practice because there can be many\u00a0factors that get in the way, most of them relating to poor leadership or individual egos.<\/p>\n<p>I decided to make a list of 10 points for you to reflect upon that can help you <strong>improve the performance of YOUR\u00a0team:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> Foster a culture of mutual respect and listening to other people\u2019s opinions by having clear rules that allow\u00a0everyone the same rights to express opinions and contribute.<br \/>\n<strong>2.<\/strong> Make sure everyone has a clear understanding of the objectives and has had time to prepare for each\u00a0meeting or discussion.<br \/>\n<strong>3.<\/strong> Help each other to be right, not wrong \u2013 give constructive suggestions instead of pointing out other people\u2019s\u00a0mistakes.<br \/>\n<strong>4.<\/strong> Listen to all input with an open mind \u2013 make an effort to understand the person\u2019s point before you judge it.<br \/>\n<strong>5.<\/strong> Never take anything personal \u2013 the team is task and results oriented, not a personality contest.<br \/>\n<strong>6.<\/strong> Team goals are the highest priority \u2013 your personal agenda is secondary to the team\u2019s objectives.<br \/>\n<strong>7.<\/strong> Aim for consensus \u2013 controversial issues should be dealt with special care focusing on thorough analysis of\u00a0the data and bringing in outside help when necessary to eliminate inflexible positions.<br \/>\n<strong>8.<\/strong> Make sure decisions are based on what&#8217;s right and not on who&#8217;s right \u2013 rank or seniority should not trump\u00a0reason.<br \/>\n<strong>9.<\/strong> Make sure decisions are made in efficient time \u2013 perfect is the enemy of good specially when there are\u00a0deadlines to be met or opportunities not to be missed.<br \/>\n<strong>10.<\/strong> Always speak positively about the team and its members \u2013 positive attitudes lead to positive results.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.success-academy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/teamwork.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-819\" alt=\"teamwork\" src=\"http:\/\/www.success-academy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/teamwork-300x151.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"151\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.success-academy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/teamwork-300x151.png 300w, https:\/\/www.success-academy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/teamwork.png 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Great teams communicate effectively and frequently.
